Honoring Ceremony
At previous community gatherings -a deeply moving and sacred ceremony, the Salyersville Indian Community honored its esteemed elders, Faye Barnett-Green, Robbie Ousley, Connie Martin-Barber, and Lou Jean Adams with the presentation of traditional Pendleton blankets. Tribal leadership, Chief Joleena Pesenti and Assistant Chief Jeff Nichols led the ceremony. This significant gesture of respect and gratitude recognized the tribal elders' profound, lifelong contributions, and ancestral commitment, celebrating them as pillars of the tribal community and guardians of rich oral histories. The community presented Pendleton blankets as gestures of warmth and safeguarding, honoring the recipients’ immense wisdom and dedication
